To many of us, the bottom dropped out the middle of March. Businesses closed. People lost their jobs. There was a novel (as in new) virus that had begun killing people, and by order of the governor, social distancing was implemented to help stop its spread.
Schools were shut down.
It was strongly suggested we stay home and ifonly ifventuring out was absolutely necessary, wear a mask when we went out into the public...doctor visits, groceries and other essentials.
March passed. Then April. Then May. People started pushing back. Cabin Fever was mentioned with increasing regularity. It seemed to become the order of the day. Annual celebrationshigh school and college graduationswere shut down or severely curtailed. Push back became more pronounced. People had begun to reach their limit.

Current Programs
GREENVILLE

The Greenville EDCY Program offers after school tutoring to Greenville students in grades 1-8. The After School Program is available Monday through Thursday throughout the school year at Greenville Elementary and Middle School. In the fall of 2019, Greenville EDCY worked 1,743 hours with 96 students.
ANSONIA

The Ansonia EDCY Program provides after school tutoring two days a week to Ansonia students in grades 1-6. The After School Program is available throughout the school year at Ansonia Local Schools. During the fall 2019 term, Ansonia EDCY worked 228 hours with 21 students.
SUMMER TUTORING

Due to COVID-19 and health mandates from Gov. DeWine, Dr. Amy Action and the Ohio Dept. of Health, EDCY Summer Tutoring will now be done virtually. All Darke County students in grades 1-8 are eligible. Topics of focus include reading, spelling, grammar and math, while "meeting" options include email, Skype, Zoom, Facebook and Google Hangouts. Send child's name, grade for 2019-20 school year, school district, phone number and preferred tutoring options to Empowering Facebook or email to empoweringdistance101@gmail.com.
